Yuri Egin is an anime-only character whose first appearance is in the non-canon filler arc. She is the mother of Rin Okumura and Yukio Okumura. She was a Lower Second Class Exorcist, and about sixteen years ago, she fell in love with Satan.

AppearanceEdit

Yuri bore a striking, if not identical, resemblance to her youngest son Yukio with her pale skin, wavy chocolate-colored hair, and large turquoise eyes. She also had a few moles on her face, just like Yukio. Her normal attire consisted of a black coat, a pink scarf, and a dark blue skirt. On casual days, Yuri was usually seen wearing a simple white sundress.

PersonalityEdit

Her personality was somewhat like Rin's, rebelling against her father's wishes by living in the forest. Despite being an Exorcist, she thought of demons, such as the Goblins and the Snowman, as her friends. She believed demons enter Assiah because they were curious. She was kind, as she wasn't afraid of Satan, even feeling sorry for him.

History (Anime Only)Edit

Note: these facts are anime-only and can be considered non-canon: Yuri's history has not been elaborated upon in the manga.

While on a mission to investigate spontaneous human combustion, Yuri and her fellow Exorcists were attacked by Satan's blue flames. Burning all of her companions except her, Yuri is mysteriously unaffected. She eventually found Satan possessing a wolf and pitied him for he could never enter Assiah because his vessels would reduce to ashes. She said, "That's so lonely... no matter how much you love something, it just turnes into ashes in your hands. That's so sad..."

She let Satan partically possess her where she taught him about life and death. This caused her to eventually be impreganted by him.

When Shirō Fujimoto was shooting her friends, Yuri let out blue flames, revealing Satan. After Yuri revealed to Shirō that she was pregnant with Satan's children, she was put into court at the Vatican and was sentenced to death. Before she could be burned alive, Satan saved her by using her father as his vessel and commanded her to run. Mephisto freed Shirō from prison and they encountered a hospitalized Ernst, who ordered them to find and kill Yuri and Satan's spawns. They went into the forest and found Yuri with her newborn children, whom she named Rin and Yukio. She soon died of childbirth.

Shirō, using Kurikara, was about to slay them until he heard Rin laugh. Remembering what Yuri said to him before, Shirō decided to raise her children as his own, much to Mephisto's amusement. Then, Mephisto sealed Rin's powers inside Kurikara.

PlotEdit

Filler arcEdit

In the anime, her father, Ernst, tells Yukio she was burned alive after she was accused of being a witch without a fair trial by the Vatican who claimed it would bring peace. But Yukio doesn't know that Ernst ordered her to be burned.

It was revealed that Yuri wishes for a world were Assiah and Gehenna doesn't exist so humans and demons can live peacefully. Satan attempts to fulfill her wish by engulfing Assiah with the Gehenna Gate . Luckily, Rin and Yukio were able to destroy the Gate and stop Satan. Satan apologizes to Yuri but she tells him it wasn't time yet and that their sons will choose their own path.

A month after the incident, Mephisto gives the brothers a key to lead them to the forest where they were born and where Yuri died. The Snowman accompanied them to her grave that Shiro possibly made for her.

Powers & AbilitiesEdit

When Satan possessed her, she was able to stay alive and not be incinerated by the blue flames. This shows that she had very strong Exorcist powers.

After feeling sorry for Satan, Yuri allowed him to possess her body as a vessel. Yuri taught Satan about life and living things, thus making Satan show a kinder side towards her. She deeply cared for Satan and went as far as allowing him to impregnate her, just to show him what life was, through the rearing of their children.

ErnstEdit

Yuri held a somewhat rebellious nature towards her father, as shown when she stayed in the forest with the demons.

TriviaEdit

Even though it is forbidden for figures of the Catholic Church to have children and sexual relationships, she is the daughter of Enst Frederik Egin, who later becomes the pope.
