The chapter starts off with Rin introducing himself, saying that he is a half human, half demon boy who is enjoying life, and also introduces Yukio, stating that he has rarely any time for fun anymore with being a fulltime student, teacher, and exorcist. Rin purchased an Oni costume for Setsubun, a Japanese holiday preceeding the first day of spring that involves throwing soybeans while chanting "In with fortune." Rin dresses up as the Oni and proceeds to wake up the sleeping Yukio. Not being able to find his glasses, Yukio runs out of the dorm, as he believes he is being chased by a real Oni. Yukio states that a man without his glasses is just as defenseless as an unarmed man. Rin tries everything he can to get his friends, and brother to understand that he is in the Oni costume and he is not a real Oni. Seeing Yukio's panic, the others react in a similar way, getting very defensive and trying to run away. Rin tries to get them to not be afraid, he throws some mame-maki (soybeans) towards them, but ends up hitting Konekomeru in the glasses, which according to Yukio is a very despicable act. Out of frustration, and irritance, Yukio smacks the mask off Rin's head yelling "Enough already! Glasses are off limits!I don't care if you are a monster, you need to at least follow the basic rules!" He then realizes that what he is looking at is his brother, and still as confused as ever, Yukio says "Look Nii-san! The Oni's gone!" they all proceed to celebrate Setsubun together.
