Jūzō is the 2nd son of the Shima family, his younger brothers include Kinzō and Renzō. As the second son, he has more responsibilities than his younger brothers. He is also an Upper Second Class Exorcist.

Appearance

Jūzō is of average height, with short, spiky black hair. Like his brothers, his eyebrows tend to look frowning, even when he smiles. He greatly resembles a younger version of his father.
PersonalityEdit
Jūzō is first introduced while fighting Mamushi over their families, and although at first he was advising Kinzō not to get into a fight with her, he subsequently got quite worked up about it, resulting in a physical confrontation. However, he seems to be more level headed and responsible than his younger brother Kinzō, and less laid back than Renzō. He is serious when it comes to his duties, and has showed concern about his childhood friend Mamushi, as well as taking care of his father. He has a lighthearted side and gets on well with his two youngest brothers. He is shown in flashbacks as a child carrying baby Renzō on his back while playing, and even now seems to be looking after him, offering to help him train.
HistoryEdit
Since the first son of the Shima family was killed in the Blue Night incident 16 years ago, Jūzō is the successor of the Shima family. He and Hōjō Mamushi are childhood friends and attended the Exorcist cram school together.

Yaozō ShimaEdit
Jūzō's father, the functional head of the Myōō Dharani sect. They seem to have a good relationship, and Jūzō is respectful of his father, helping him to walk to a meeting when he is injured, and showing concern for his health.
Kinzō ShimaEdit
Jūzō's second-youngest brother, an exorcist and monk. They get on well, and Kinzō looks up to Jūzō and follows his lead. Jūzō affectionately refers to Kinzō as a "fuckin' idiot", and tries to advise his hot-headed brother against starting a fight with the stronger Mamushi.
Renzō ShimaEdit
Jūzō's youngest brother, training to become an exorcist and monk like his father and older brothers. Although Jūzō is friendly and easy going with his little brother, being welcoming towards his friend Rin and offering to train with Renzō, they have been seen to engage in some sibling bickering.
Mamushi HōjōEdit
Jūzō and Mamushi are childhood friends, both exorcists and members of the Myao Dha sect. They attended school and trained to be exorcists together. Although in their first appearance the two are shown fighting, they are always together in flashbacks, and Jūzō has been shown to care about her a lot. After the defeat of the Impure King Jūzō comforted her and then asked for, and received permission to marry Mamushi the next day. In chapter 34, he proposes to her.
