Demon Karuta

The Demon Karuta (悪魔 (あくま) ⾻牌 (カルタ)  Akuma Karuta) is a game where one person chants a summoning clause from a Reading Card, while the other person has to accurately match the chant with its corresponding Picture Card and strike it before the chant is completed, otherwise the demon corresponding to that chant is summoned. It is mainly used for Aria certification exams.[1]

Lewin Light possesses a cursed version of the game. A powerful Aria's ghost possesses the Reading Cards and once the cards are set loose, it will begin chanting and will not stop until the game is over.[2]

  • Karuta is a type of playing card introduced to Japan by Portuguese traders. Its name comes from carta, which is Portuguese for "card".
