Hello and welcome to the Ao no Exorcist Wiki. There are very few policies which apply across all of Wikia; the ones that do can be found at their Policy Category. In addition to these policies, there have been policies and guidelines that have been developed on the Ao no Exorcist Wiki to further our goal of creating an informative Ao no Exorcist database. Our policies apply to all editors. We at the Ao no Exorcist Wiki strive to create a welcoming and fun environment for those who are civil and assume good faith in others, seek consensus in discussions, and work towards the goal of creating an increasingly comprehensive database about everything in the Ao no Exorcist Universe. Policies need to be approached with common sense; adhere to the spirit rather than the lettering of the rules, and be prepared to break the rules on the rare occasion when they conflict with the goal of improving the wiki.

This is the policy for the naming of Ao no Exorcist Wiki articles, characters, places, abilities, and techniques.
General Notes[]
There are a few small important notes in the naming policy that applies to all categories of names rather than just a specific group.
Character Names[]
In most instances, this wiki uses character names from the official ViZ volumes. In general there is usually no dispute about this, but in instances where a double vowel is blatantly translated by ViZ, a macron may be used to substitute the redundancy.
Character Articles[]
Except in the case of blatant nicknames, if a character's legitimate alias is what they are most frequently referred to as, then they will have that legitimate alias as their article name. Mephisto Pheles, for example, is referred to by that name, rather than his true name, Samael, for reasons just stated.
Technique Names[]
If possible, due to the nature of several characters using techniques that translate to a language other than English, the names of techniques will almost always be from the ViZ translation to ensure correctness.
Use of Names[]
In articles we refer to the character by their primary names, not nicknames. For example, Lewin Light, who is almost always referred to as Lightning, is to be called Lewin in all articles he appears in, not Lightning.
